From development days for local kids to the biggest events in the International mountain bike calendar; Cairns has it all. With the three clubs each hosting their own series of unique and fantastic events covering XC, Enduro and DH there is always something for the locals to enjoy in a (not too) competitive nature.

Cairns is the home of the oldest running and largest single point-to-point mountain bike race in Australia; the RRR Mountain Bike Challenge as part of the Cairns Airport Adventure Festival. A truly unique and beautiful journey covering the three terrains that exemplify the Cairns region – Rural, Reef and Rainforest.

The region also plays host to what is dubbed the “toughest mountain biking event in the world” – the infamous Crocodile Trophy. This gruelling seven-day journey through the harsh outback entices riders from all over the world.

Add to this the long awaited return of the UCI World Cup and UCI World-Championship trials. It has been nearly 20 years since they first arrived in this unique rainforest tropical destination and Cairns has been widely regarded as one of the most unique and challenging race venues ever since.
