From local events to the biggest in the international mountain bike calendar
With the three clubs each hosting their own series of unique and fantastic events covering XC, Enduro and DH there is always something for the locals to enjoy in a (not too) competitive nature.
Cairns is the home of the oldest running and largest single point-to-point mountain bike race in Australia; the RRR Mountain Bike Challenge as part of the Cairns Airport Adventure Festival. A truly unique and beautiful journey covering the three terrains that exemplify the Cairns region – Rural, Reef and Rainforest.
The region also plays host to what is dubbed the “toughest mountain biking event in the world” – the infamous Crocodile Trophy. This gruelling seven-day journey through the harsh outback entices riders from all over the world.
Add to this the long awaited return of the UCI World Cup and UCI World-Championship trials. It has been nearly 20 years since they first arrived in this unique rainforest tropical destination and Cairns has been widely regarded as one of the most unique and challenging race venues ever since.
This year marks the 23rd edition of the Crocodile Trophy, known to be one of the most demanding bike races in the world.
Celebrate the 27th running of the RRR Mountain Bike Challenge in 2017, as part of Cairns Airport Adventure Festival.
The 2017 event will feature over 300 riders from 35 countries competing in the cross country (XCO) and Downhill (DHI) disciplines.
Now in it’s 7th year, Gravitate Tropical Mountain Bike Festival will again set out to provide a truly unique take on the Mountain Bike Festival.
