From local events to the biggest in the international mountain bike calendar
With the three clubs each hosting their own series of unique and fantastic events covering XC, Enduro and DH there is always something for the locals to enjoy in a (not too) competitive nature.
Cairns is the home of the oldest running and largest single point-to-point mountain bike race in Australia; the Triple R Mountain Bike Challenge. A truly unique and beautiful journey covering the three terrains that exemplify the Cairns region – Rural, Reef and Rainforest. The Triple R is now part of the Reef 2 Reef MTB event.
The region also plays host to what is dubbed the “toughest mountain biking event in the world” – the infamous Crocodile Trophy. This gruelling seven-day journey through the harsh outback entices riders from all over the world.
In 2017 we hosted the UCI World-Championship trials in Tropical North Queensland; so it’s no wonder that Cairns has been widely regarded as one of the most unique and challenging race venues ever.
The Crocodile Trophy is known to be one of the most demanding bike races in the world.
The seven day Cairns to Karumba bike-ride has been Queensland’s greatest fun bicycle ride for the past 20 years.
