Cairns is a beautiful location. There is no other way to describe it. Rainforest, Rural, Reef…. Those three ‘R’s’ are always so predominant in shaping the landscape, it is no wonder the largest and longest running point-to-point mountainbike race in Australia is aptly named the ‘RRR MountainBike Challenge’.

There is so much to see and ride in the region, and always so much going on with events, festivals, social rides, famous names popping by… We will strive to bring you the most spectacular imagery of the most spectacular mountainbike destination in the country!

  • Cairns Mountain Bike Club June DH / ENDUROOpen or Close

Less than ideal conditions this weekend as the 2014 Cairns Mountain Bike Club Enduro and DH action series for 2014 got underway! The Enduro course proved super tough with some epic hill climbs enroute to the various timed stages. But the icing on the cake was definitely navigating the treacherous VINES (the lower section of the UCI World-Cup DH course) towards the finish line, on the small bikes!
DH racing went off with alot of muddy bikes and big smiles! Kudos to the packed U15 category for braving the very challenging course and conditions!!
Hopefully we see a bit more sunshine for the next round in a few weeks!

  • Paul Van Der Ploeg & Jenny King Cairns UCI XC Track sneak-peakOpen or Close

2013 XCE (Cross-Country Eliminator) World-Champion Aussie Paul Van Der Ploeg and XCM (Cross-Country Marathon) Champion Aussie Jenni King recently traveled up to Sunny Cairns to check out the course and venue for the upcoming World-Cup being held in April. They were treated to an amazing, bright, vividly green layout and were blown away with the brand new courses. They both highly commended the level of technicality and variety in trail for the course, appreciating the changes of riding style and the buffet of line choices and ‘technical a-lines’ making up multiple passing opportunities as well as offering some spectacular viewing for the crowds! With all thumbs up, we look forward to seeing them back repping the rainbow jerseys and bringing Australia home to gold!

The ‘RRR Mountain Bike Challenge’ is the oldest and largest running single point-to-point mountainbike race in Australia. Covering three of the unique, beautiful terrains typical of the Cairns region; Rural, Rainforest and Reef. Steeped in history, and just as steep in nature… The Bump-Track is an axhilirating plummet of the Great Dividing Range down into the back of the luxurious beach resort town of Port Douglas. FLOW MTB got to see what it was all about; thick rainforest, tropical streams and serious brake-burning speeds down the descent!
