Kuranda Downhill Trail is slated as Australia’s oldest running DH trail. What started as a rough, underground and little-known myth in the Kuranda hills soon spawned a generation of World-Cup athletes, thousands of tales and eventually becoming the region’s first officially recognised recreational DH trail outside of the Smithfield MTB Park.
This Downhill track is coveted by locals and maintained by a dedicated few who frequent the track, mostly every weekend and afternoons. It’s got it all with fast and steep, smooth high berms, rough and rooted technical, big gaps, high drops, some roller-coaster berms, and big rocks that are sometimes like boulders that can fly up at any time. One of the best shuttled DH runs in Cairns!
Head out from Cairns, north to Kuranda range and follow the range to the lookout. Drop-in is below a small pull over area near the lookout.
